Assignment 4 Pre production evaluation

Before producing our advert there were many pre production documents we had to fill out in order to film and get all equipment and everything we needed for our advert. The pre-productions are ; proposal, contact details, budget, costumes and props, risk assessment, production schedule, filming location, shooting schedule and story board.

Proposal
the propsoal covers the whole idea of what is ogoing to happen and describes what the aim is stating the target audience and many other key factors. This is very useful as it lets everyone know who is involved what they want to happen and what is expected and any background information.

Contact Details
On this document it states every one is who involved in the advert and their contact uinformation if needed. This is useful as you may want to film and need to let everyone know where and when this going to happen.

Budget
A budget states what what money is going to be needed to be spent in order to get all the quipment for the advert, such as costumes and prop , location and much more. This is very useful as it shows you how much money you will need to get everything you want in your advert and you change this if you want something either cheaper or more expensive.

Costumes and Props
This covers any thing needed for the advert to happen , for example in my advert you would need suitable clothing for football, a football , a goal and much more. This is useful as it shows what is needed to make the advert as good as possible and how much they are.

Risk assessment
A risk assessment is a sheet claiming wall the possible risks when filming and hpw they can be resolved or minimised so they do not happen. This is very useful as it is vitsl that everyone working on the advert is a safe as they can possible be.

Production Schedule
The production shcedule shows what is gpoing to be happening at what times throiugh out the day and shows who is partipating , for example who is the dfirector , who is the camera man and who is the actor. This is useful as it makes everything much easier to and makes it all very organised.

Filming location
This document states where we are going to be filming and will often show where it is on a map and any directions to get there for any of the crew. This is is useful as it shows where you are going to be filming and everyone will know where to go

Shooting Schedule
The shooting schedule is very much like the prodcution schedule but is for all the camera work, this is a scene by scene explanation of what is going on. This is useful as it shows all the actors and crew memebers what they are filming throughtout the day and what is needed in every scene.

Story board
The story board is a document that shows all the ideas of what is going to happen, there will be more thna one and the whole group will decide what they are going to do and any adjustments needed. This is useful as there is more than one idea and you differ between the two to make it better

Assignment 4 Evaluation re-draft

I am now going to talk about what i think went well in my advert and what i could have done better.I have created an avert for Lucozade Sport , i decided to use this product as it is very popular and the whole group liked the idea of doing a sport related advert, the target audience was male's in their 20's who enjoyed participating in sport. I hcose this as a target audience as alot of people in their 20's still really enjoy sport and may need to replenish energy as they used to have alot more when they were younger.

When thinking about the idea of the advert i had a rough idea of how i wanted it to be, and how it was going to be sucdcessfull as well as giving many good ideas we decided as a group how it should be done, and listening to each other on how we could ad different things to it , in which my opinion made it alot better. Also with help of a questionnaire we would edit the advert and conduct it in a way that that the feedback we got. In the survey we asked both qualitative and quantitive questions. we would often use open questions so we could get detailed feedback from the audience. An example of the questions we used are shown below. This will show what container they would prefer to drink for, when people drink sports drinks and much mroe releant information that we would have to consider when making our advert.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/analyze/l17sFQ7JCmhtdjzsuAU3viXSI3BQKD_2F0egRWyz649zA_3D

Firstly i think that there were several points of the advert that were very good and some that were bad. I think that the editing in the advert was good as it seemed very smooth and there were no pauses, it seemed to have a natural flow and was in rythm with the song. However there are some points in the advert where the camera moves and makes it look a little unprofessional. Also i think alot of people can relate to the product as football is the most popular sport in the world making the target audence be alot bigger than using a not so popular sport. An improveent i would of mad is that i would use an actress nextr time as it was only male actors in the advert and made it seem just aimed at men, making my target audience alot smaller. An idditional thing that i felt we done very well was promote our product very well as there were multiple times in the advert where you can cleary see Lucozade being displayed , especially at the end where th eonly thing you can see is a close up of the product.  Another improvement that may be needed next time is that we could possibly use a famous person to promote our product, preferrably a famous football player so that people may think if a prpfessional uses it then they should as well.

In the focus group we showed our advert to the audience and most of them rated it an 8 out of 10, i am very pkeased with this as it was our frist time in creating an advert. In the focus group we had both positive and negative feedback. I took into account tyhe negative feedback more as i think if i were to create another advert for the same product i would chaneg somethings so that they think it is beter and that there is a bigger target audience. In this focus group we also asked on what people thought were good and what they thought needed improving, which helps us realise what we would have to do next time to make the advert much better.

After looking and analayising all the feedback i felt that overall the advert was successful i think the aim is met and alot of people said they would buy the advert when i asked the audience. However i would of been ,much more pleased if we got 10 ouit of 10 but this can be made with all the improvements mentioned above.

Survey

Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey , the world's leading questionnaire tool.

In my survery i have asked several questions relating to my product and similar product son the market to find out what people preferred and relate that to my advert i am going to create.

In the question above i have asked which container people would prefer to drink from as it is important what the audience wants and we can use this in our advert by using the most popular one so that it appeals to a lot of people. Therefore by the answers above it shows that the bottle was the most popular  container and will benefit us for the advert.

In this question above it asks when you would drink an energy drink, most of the answers we got back related to when people drink they are often participating in sports, therefore this would benefit us as in the advert we will display the drink being consumed whilst a person is participating in sport.

In the question above it sks the audience what type of sport they do, and we hve decided to pick football as a main part of our advert as severeal people commented about football, and football is one of the most popular sports in the country which will benefit us as it will make the advert al ot more appealing

In the question above we asked what people's age were,  this is because we will have to create the advert round our audience's age ad will consider what to do in the advert so it is relevant to them, also its important that it interests as many as people as possible.
In the question above we have asked what gender the person answering the survey is this is to see what gender many think lucozade is aimed at who we have ti target in our audience. Therefore it would benefit us so we can use this information on our advert.

In the question above we have asked what our favourites sports drink is, and most of the answers we got were lucozade which benefits us as we can include this in our advert and makes our product seem very appealing.

In the question above  the question is asking when drink you consume when exercising, most people answers were lucozade thereforw we could use this in the advert
by exercising in the advert.

In the question above the question asks how many times a week people exercise , ths would benefit us as if people exercise often many people would but a sports drink., therefore it would benefit us as we want people to exercise so that our product seems more appropriate.

The advert will feature two boys from Robert Clack Six Form who will be carrying out tasks one who started with lucozade and one with water, the one drinking water then becomes tired and has a bottle of lucozade, he then gains a lot of energy and is able to carry out the tasks again, then both the two boys walk off with there lucozade.

Graphics will be used to re-enforce the product as well as what we are advertising about it.

The advertisement will be produced  with digital cameras, and edited digitally using the final cut at our schools media block.

Assignment 3 Task 2

When producing our advert thre were many factors in which we had to take into cvonsideration to make sure the advert was successful. The factors were; signing out the equipment, habing enough light for the shots in advert, instrcuting actors and crew members and health and safety.

Firstly we signed the equipment out, we done this by the school giving us permision to use equipment and tghe signed out a tripod, camera and our own sd card to film on. To sing it out we had to put the names down in our group and then write dowm the specific numbers given to the camera and tripod and when finished

Also we had to make sure there was enough lighting when we filmed so it was easily visible. To ensure we kept the sa,me amount of lighting we filmed roughly on the same time of each day and would checjk the weather to make sure it was bright enough for us to film.

Instrcuting our crew and actors what to do was also another thing we had to do. I done this by instructing the actors what to do either stpe by step or a whole scene at a time, i would then instruct my crew on how i wanted them to film it and maybe change the angles in which it is being filmed.

Also we had to consider the safety of everyone on the scene, due to this i made the actors wear suitable clothing for what they were going to be doing and also checked the lkocation that were was nothing that could harm them.

Once i finished filing it was now time to edit my footyage and make into an advert.Firstly i had to rearrange the clips in the order that i wanted them, i then deletd some clips that i did not want to use so it would be easier to put my advert together

I then used Live type so that i could label the video to make sure the audience knew it was my video.

The next tool i used was the fade tool i done this by clicking on the pen icon and then found a black line runninbg through the clip i would then select where i wanted to fade to start by clicking ojn the line at the top of the clip and where it would end by clicking further on down the clip and dragging it down to the bottom.

I then decided what music i wanted to be featured in this advert i had to import this from the internet and then convert it to mp3, i then synced the song up in beat with the advert and made it play whilst the advert was going on, especially when there was action

Near the end i had to use layers on my advert, i done this when i used fading as at the end of my advert i had faded from the final scene to the product to emphasise what thwe product was and makde sure the audience unbderstood this and saw it up close.

Once this was all done i had to render this video so i could upload it on to youtube and make sure that the sound and quality were the same when doing so.

i then had to upload it to youtube i had to export the video and save it and adjust some soudn setting and display setting and then logged on to my youtube accoutn and uploaded the advert.

Assignment 2 Task 4

When creating an advert there are some potential problems you mar run into. it is very important that you check that there are no problems as they can get you into alot of bother.some of the problems are copyright and codes of practice.

You must be very careful when creating advert as you could be prosecuted for copyrighting someone. for example if you are going to use music on your advert you must ensure you get permission that you can use and not just take the song and use it as band or singer may not want you using it. Also this is the same were you are thinking of ideas you can not take ideas from advert from a different company and use them on your own advert.

Also you must be very cautious about codes of practice. There are many codes of practice in which if you do not follow your advert could be banned. For example risk of content is something you need to be careful about if the advert is seen to be rude, racist, sexist or any other key factors then the advert will be banned as it is not suitable for everyone to watch and some people may take offence to it.

Another code fo practice you need to think about is false advertising. Fa;se advertising is when you say something about the product which is really nto true. For example in a lucozade sports drink advert you can not say that the drink will make you better at a sport is the best drink in the world as it displays the product to be something it's not.

Assignment 2 Task 3

When researching for an advert you must find otu what you need for the advert and how you are going to get it. There are many things you need for an advert. These include technical equipment, possible filming location, actors and actresses and  costumes and props.

First of all you must research in what type of equipment you need for  the advert to film it , for example you would need a camera and a tripod to hold the camera in place when filming. firstly you would get the equipment either by buying it to keep or hiring it out , if hiring then you must realise how long you will need to hire the equipment out or so you have enough time to film your advert, roughly it would cost you around £400 pound per day for all the equipment including the editing equipment needed to put all the scenes together to make the advert.

Secondly you need to consider where you are going to film if needing good facilities you will have to hire it out for the length of time you want to get all the filming you need from this, for example if doing a sport advert you may want to hire out a pitch so that you can film on there. The costs on hiring a facility varies depending on what location and facilities are using, it may cost up to £100 per day.As well as paying for the location you must also get permission that you can film on there from the owner. Some locations are also picked on how easy they are to get to, whether you will have to travel alot to get there either by bus or train. Some problems you may encounter when picking a location is that it may be open to the public alot and therefore they could interfere with your filming as you do not want them in the advert. The weather may also be a problem when you film as if you are filming when outside and it is sunny the whole time you film it then needs to be sunny.

Actors and Actresses are also something you need to consider when creating your advert as they need to suit what your advert is about. You need to decide what is needed from the actors and actresses, whether it be age, gender or any other factor. Also you need to pick someone which may be time consuming as you may need auditions so you know what your actors are like. If you want to hire a well known and famous actor then you will have to pay for their services. However if you use a member of the public you need them to fill in a form allowing them to do so.

Costumes and props also have to be considered, for example what you will need for the actors to use or wear during the advert. Also you need to research where you are going to get the costumes and props from, also once you have the costume and props you need to find a place to store them. Also you need to consider the costs of the clothing and props , this depends on what you are going to get and how muchh you get of it, the average amount to use is  £100.

Task 2 assignment 2 - Ideas generation

As a group we have created 2 main ideas ifor our advert

The first idea we came up with involves 1 person doing drills in football and at first is doing it moderately well at an average speed, once the athlete starts to tire he drinks Lucozade as it replaces electrolites that gives energy, then the same atlete will be much betetr t a much quicker tempo, to emphasise  the effect lucozade has on tired thletes. The target audience for our advert would be youbng sports people as they want more energy whilst participating n ther specific sport. The form of this advert is a stand alone as it is not part of a series and is not related to any other avderts. The unique selling poitn of our advert is thta lucozade advert would be that it improves your energy when your felling tired to make you beter  .This is shown in the story board below.

The second idea the group came up with consists of 2 actors, at the beginning it shows that both the ath;etes are the same ability and same fitness as they both tire , one drinks water and the other drinks lucozade, the one who drinks lucozade gets more energy and starts beating the other due to the drink choice, the target audience for this is also youn sports people as they will want to be better than most people and can be if they have mre energy then others due to lucozade. The form of this advert is a realist advert as it shwos factsthat are true. The unique selling poitn of our advert is thta lucozade advert would be that it improves your energy when your felling tired to make you better. This idea is shown on the story board below.

assignment 2 - task 1

As a part of creating an advert for a product i must research into similar products and will be analysing 5 adverts from different but similar products. The adverts i am going to analyse are shown as below

The advert below is a advert from gatorade, in which it shows the story of how gatorade had helped a team to victory in american football which is based round a true story and it gives off energy when you drink it, after this it shows various sporting moments in which gatorade is being used to help professional atheletes and it gives the impression that if you drink this drink then you may be as good as the athletes. The form of this advert is a stand alone as it is one of kind and is not in a series. The style in this advert is using famous faces as they have many famous sports people in there advert, such as peyton manning, serena williams, michael jordan and others. The type of music used in this advert is rock music which makes you feel motivated as it is quite up beat and is in rhythm with what is happening in the advert. What makles it remeberable is the fact it uses reptition alot as in nearly everything scene you will see something associated with 'Gatorade'. The product is made appealing as many famous people use it and encoruages you that if they use it it is good for them and therefore you should. It is suitable for the audience as it is related to sport , which is what the company are wanting to do. There are no scenes where it is irrelevant or appropriate as it sticks to the same subject all the way through.

The advert below is an advert from a different company that is similiar to Lucozade called 'Powerade'. this advert shows how many athletes have to push there self to their limits to be the very best they can be at their sport, once they are very tired they will drink powered to feel better and restore their energy to perform at their highest level for longer. The form of the advert is a stand alone advert as it is not part of a series and is a one off advert. The style of advertisement used is a famous faces advert as there are many famous athletes in the advert, one being Jessica Ennis-Hill , who is a famous decathlon athlete.  The music used in this advert is very motivating as their is  music in the background as someone is speaking which motivates the person. What makes the advert rememberable is that it is filled with action and have famous people .The product is made appealing as many famous people use it and encourages you that if they use it it is good for them and therefore you should. It is suitable for the audience as it is related to sport , which is what the company are wanting to do. There are no scenes where it is irrelevant or appropriate as it sticks to the same subject all the way through.

The advert below is from the same company that we have chose to create and advert for. In this advert it gives you a feel good vibe as there are many people on roller skates and skateboards doing tricks with an upbeat song. The form of the advert is a stand alone advert as it is not part of a series and is a one off advert. the style of this advert is repetition as it shows many of the same things as people riding along on their skateboards and roller blades. The music in this video is a very popular song called 'louder' by dj fresh and gives off a feel good vibe and because of this it makes the advert rememberable. the product is appealing as it seems that if you drink this drink your life will be as good as the people in the advert. There are no scenes where it is irrelevant or appropriate as it sticks to the same subject all the way through.

The advert below is also from the same company that we have chose to create an advert for. In this advert it shows us a famous athlete i action and explains in why they should drink the drink as it gives you more energy to achieve what you want to.The form of the advert is a stand alone advert as it is not part of a series and is a one off advert. The style of the advert is using famous faces as it shows you a very famous and successful long distance runner called 'Mo farah' in action and makes people believe that they can be as good as him if they drink the same drink as him. The music in this adver tis very motivating and makes the audience feel engaged and capable that they too could be as good as the people on the television. The product is appealing as it seems that if you drink this drink your life will be as good as the people in the advert. There are no scenes where it is irrelevant or appropriate as it sticks to the same subject all the way through.

The advert below is from a similar product to Lucozade called 'Powerade'. in this advert it shows how most of the public can achieve what they want through sport by their own hard work but will help them be energised so that they can do better. The form of the advert is a stand alone advert as it is not part of a series and is a one off advert. The style of the advert is repetition as you see the same people alot in the advert.
